Homicide detectives drawn from the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), Louis Edet House in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, have arrested no fewer than seven suspects in connection with the killing in Lagos of a serving Mobile Police Officer identified as Edison Fulman, with Force Number 500314.

Apparently piqued by the ugly development, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, directed a handful of Homicide detectives from FCID Abuja to fish out those responsible for the dastardly act. The detectives who arrived Lagos three weeks ago did not waste time regarding the matter as they went swiftly into action.

Our usually reliable sources revealed that, painstaking investigations carried out by the top rated detectives led to the arrest of seven persons while others said to be complicit in the matter are still at large.

“We are still on the trail of others,” one of the Investigating Police Officers squealed.

Arrested in connection with the death of the Police Sergeant are: Sikiru Lamidi, Ayepe Moshood, Festus Onifade, Buhari Musa, Sarafadeen Saka, Moses Adeola and Sabitu Anafu. The arrested suspects were said to have confessed to the crime and also named other accomplices.

Force Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent Muyiwa Adejobi, during our enquiry confirmed the arrest of the suspects. He intimated us that they (the suspects) would be methodically screened with the view to ascertaining the level of culpability of individuals in the matter.

The police image maker was quick to add that those who do not have anything to do with the matter would be released at the conclusion of investigations.

“We don’t detain people unnecessarily. We are policing with integrity.”

It may be recalled that , Sergeant Edison Fulman was serving at Zone 2 Command Headquarters before his death.

“He was among the 17 officers posted to Etegbin Community to see to the smooth possession taken of some acres of land when he met his death in the hands of gun wielding hoodlums”.

Meanwhile, aside the ill fated police officer, others which include the following were also said to have been kidnapped the same day and time and their whereabouts remains a mystery.

They are Ganiyu Ogunbakinde; Olumide Omoakin; Jamiu Osama; Azeez Oloye; Akeem; Taiwo; Dayo and Wasiu, whose surnames were not known.

The police had last week invited some key government functionaries attached to Alausa, the Lagos seat of power, in connection with the mayhem.
