I am honored to pay tribute to Comrade Festus Alenkhe, a man whose dedication, resilience, and transformative leadership have left an indelible mark on every organization he has been a part of.

As the famous presenter of “Crime Watch” on Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) TV, Festus Alenkhe has not only captivated audiences but also established the program as one of the most watched in Nigeria, despite other EBS programs struggling to gain similar traction even within the state.

Festus Alenkhe’s journey of excellence began over two decades ago when he served as Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN), Edo State Chapter. His visionary leadership and innovative approach breathed new life into the Youth Council, setting a precedent for his future endeavors.

He then took the helm of affairs of the Nigeria Red Cross Society(NRC), Edo State branch as Chairman where his remarkable ability to turn challenges into opportunities led to the construction of a modern Events Centre in the organization’s headquarters in the GRA Benin City.

As the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Comrade Alenkhe has continued to demonstrate his unique capability to succeed where others have failed. In the past two years, he has transformed the Edo NUJ Secretatiat, providing a befitting office complex with modern conveniences and a Conference Room befitting for trainings and press conferences.

His leadership has not only elevated the status of the NUJ but also created an environment that fosters growth, learning, and professional development for all journalists in Edo State.

One of the most remarkable characteristics of Comrade Alenkhe is his ability to pick up what many might consider “dead wood” and transform it into a flourishing forest. Whether it was revamping the NYCN in Edo State, the complete renovation of the NRC headquarters in Benin City, or making “Crime Watch” a household name in Nigeria, his impact has been profound and lasting.

Given his extraordinary track record and the positive changes he has brought to the NUJ, it is imperative that we continue to support Comrade Festus Alenkhe in his quest for another term as Chairman of the NUJ, Edo State Council. His vision, commitment, and proven ability to drive progress are exactly what we need to keep moving forward.

Comrade Festus Alenkhe is one of the most decorated NUJ State Council Chairmen in Nigeria. He is a Peace Ambassador with the Universal Peace Federation,  an arm of the United Nations. He is a  Safety Global Ambassador courtesy of the World Safety Organisation (WSO) and  a member of the Nigerian  Institute Of Public Relations (NIPR).

He graduated from the College of Education, Ekiadolor in Edo State. He holds a Diploma Certificate in Broadcast Journalism from New York Film Academy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies/Diplomacy from the University of Benin, as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the lnternational lnstitute of Journalism(IIJ), with a certificate on Executive Masterclass from the London Centre for Training and Development.

In conclusion, I call on all members of the NUJ in Edo State, to rally behind Comrade Alenkhe and endorse him for another term in office. Together, we can ensure that the momentum he has built continues to grow and overshadow or erase any human frailty he might have had in his long standing commitment to excellence, bringing about even greater achievements and advancements for the NUJ.

With sincere appreciation and best wishes.
