Benin City Metropolitan Chapter of National Association of Seadogs(NAS), has put smiles on the faces of residents of Patani and Adagbabiri Communities in Delta and Bayelsa States respectively who hitherto have been suffering from the effect of flooding that pervaded a large part of their communities.

Leading the team on the visit to the communities was the Capoon of the Chapter(Benbow Deck), Dr. Chris Ekiyor. Relief materials donated to the affected people included food items, insecticides, treated nets, blankets, medications to two RAHI Centres to continue to do free medical for the next two weeks as part of the sustainability plan to respond to diarrhoea and pains arising from the long suffering of people affected by the flood.

Speaking, on the occasion, Dr. Ekiyor, stated that their motivation was borne out of their concerns for human rights and social justice and was not unconnected with their visions to championing well coordinated human race and support for Nigerians, adding that the Seadogs accomplishes their vision through their charitable donations such as this.

He pleaded with the communities to ensure dispassionate and equal distribution of the relief materials to every member of the benefiting communities, to heal the wounds the flood has inflicted on them.

Dr Chris Ekiyor said that though they cannot guarantee fulfillment of the yearning of the people of the Communities, justice should prevail in the distribution of the donated relief materials.

Beneficiaries of the humanitarian gesture(numbering about 200 people) of the Seadogs to the two communities expressed their appreciation and thanked them for the kindness.

In his remarks, the Royal Highness of Adagbabiri Community, HRH Alaowei Broderick Okee, thanked the NAS for the gesture and prayed for Dr Ekiyor and members of his team.

It was a Partnership Project between Pentagun Deck, USA and Benbow Deck, Nigeria as part of the humanistic ideal of the NAS and giving back to the community, for flood victims in the Niger Delta area targeted at three Communities – Adagbabiri, Aven and Patani.

Said Dr. Ekiyor, “it is an initiative that is ongoing which will be sustained for a long time.”
