President of school alumni charges members to be committed

Dame Sotonye Wabote, President of Government Army Secondary School(GASS), Elelele 88 set, has charged members to be fully committed so that the aims and objectives of coming together can be achieved.

She said this at the opening ceremony of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the group in Abuja.

Dame Wabote, who commended members for coming out in their numbers to attend this year’s AGM, noted that members are looking forward to hosting the AGM outside the shores of Nigeria as members who are in the diaspora also wish to be part of the annual event.

However, she announced that next year AGM will be hosted in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The three day event started with a welcome seat out at the President Dame Sotonye Wabote apartment on arrival.

Day two, Abuja sight and tours followed by an old school party at the Nera Hotel and Resort, Jabi FCT, Abuja.

Day three, Aerobic Exercise with members appearing on their crested T-shirts at the Jabi Lake followed by the AGM proper with members representing their states in different colourful attires.

The AGM/reunion was rounded up with a pool side party at Nera Hotel and Resort. The event was attended by members across the country.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of awards to some members who have distinguished themselves in the set and the appointment of Barrister Sam Igwe as the Assistant Legal Adviser of the Association.

The awardees were Dame Sotonye Wabote, Chima Nnamdi, Professor Joy Ekeke, Mrs Tonye Buseri, Julian Nkuma Onyi, Nnameka Nwankwo, Christian Odugwu, Colonel Sunday Chohwora, Amerizi Obina Princewill and Patrick Ugbe Agich.
