Petitioner wants reps aspirant, Osawaru, investigated over dual membership of political parties

Edoghogho Law firm acting on behalf of their client, Hon. Eric Edoba Uwubamwen, has approached the Federal High Court, Benin, to wit that Billy Osawaru, who is desirous of representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC) is not a bona fide member of the party as he is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

According to the appellant Osawaru was one of those that contested the primaries for the House of Representatives seat on the platform of the PDP in 2018/19.

“That having contested and lost that primary election under the platform of PDP, the 1st defendant left Nigeria for the United States of America where he lives.

“That the said 1st defendant is now parading himself as a member of the All Progressives Congress(APC) and seeking nomination of the APC to contest primary elections for the Orhionmwon/Uhumwonde Federal Constituency of Edo State under the platform of the APC,” the petitioner disclosed.

Also the petitioner stated that one portion of the registration of new members in the APC requires thumb printing which Osawaru would not have done since he was outside the shores of the country.

Going forward, the petitioner advised that Osawaru should not carry the baggage into the APC primary and ultimately the general elections.
