Peter Obi should save LP

By Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor

It’s absurdity for a man like Julius Abure to hold a formidable party founded by Nigerian workers for the emancipation of Nigerians to ransom. Now he has the audacity to hold a Press Conference surrounded by his charlatans to call for unity and throw jabs at the founders of the  party, Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

If this impunity is allowed to stand, it may be the end of Labour Party(LP) but God forbid. If this happens OBIDIENTS will have no one to blame but themselves for not properly fusing into the LP. If you want a change in any organization, you must first become a member of such organization and effect the change from within.

Secondly, Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the party, must step up as the leader of the party. His sterling qualities and moral authority actually lifted the party from obscurity to prominence.

Peter Obi, his Tsunami of OBIDIENTS and all elected members of the party should not be seen to have used and dumped the LP. There is a vacuum of leadership in the LP. The party chairman is different from the party leader.

Peter Obi must show more interest in the party and assume his position as the leader of the party. He must embark on a massive mobilization drive from the ward level directing OBIDIENTS to register in their wards and join hands in rebuilding the party from the wards to national convention. Let’s practice what will preach. Charity begins at home.
