Prince Blessing Edigin, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, has described the combination of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Mallam Gani Audu, governorship and deputy governorship candidate respectively of the party in the forthcoming election in the state, as the best thing to happen to the state in recent time.
In an interview, Prince Edigin said that the duo are on a divine rescue mission to right the wrong and return the state to its glory years.
“APC combination of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu (governor) and Mallam Gani Audu (deputy governor) is the best thing to happen to the state in recent years. The duo are on a divine mission to rescue the state and return it to its glory years.
“They are God sent and are the people we need to bring succour, peace and development to Edo State. This kind of divine combination in governance is a rare occurrence which we should not allow to pass us.
“These men of God have a deep love and passion for the people of the state. They are focused and have promised to regenerate the state in line with modern trends world wide. Another attribute they possess is that they’re very accessible and are open to meaningful contributions to governance,” Prince Edigin asserted.
On the recent peace pact brokered between the APC and PDP ahead of the gubernatorial poll in the state by His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare 11, Ogidigan, Prince Edigin said: “That Oba Ewuare 11 called the peace pact between the two leading parties – APC and PDP – his a measure of his wealth of wisdom as well as his love for the well being of the people of the state.
“The general opinion is that the so called letter written by the man with the pseudonym, Osaro Omoruyi who claimed to reside in Canada actually emanated from the state Government House. Governor Godwin Obaseki should thread with caution and give unreserved respect to the Benin Palace.
“There is no doubt that the intervention of the Oba has a good thing. If not things would have degenerated so badly. When this crisis started rearing its head, the Oba would invite Governor Obaseki and Comrade Oshiomhole to a peace meeting.
“From wherever he is – Lagos, Abuja and even abroad – Comrade Adams Oshiomhole would ensure that he keeps the appointment. Not so for Governor Obaseki. This is a pure show of disrespect for the king by the governor. Most times it is the deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, that the governor delegates to represent him at such meetings.
“The Oba’s love for humanity should not be misconstrued and should not in any way mean he should not be given his due reverence. May the Oba reign for eternity and may the ancestors of the land open the ground and swallow those who defy his pronouncements.
“We don’t need a desperado that is intent of shedding blood to become governor. This is what His Royal Majesty has stated and that’s a pronouncement backed by the ancestors of the land.”
On the recent deluge of character assassination directed at Captain Hosa Okunbo, Prince Edigin stated: “Captain Hosa Okunbo is the eyes of Benin Kingdom. He is a man that is always interested in putting smiles on the faces of people.
“It beats my imagination for Governor Godwin Obaseki to be fighting him for no genuine reason. Obaseki and his hirelings who insult Captain Hosa at any given opportunity are stepping on the small tail of Benin Kingdom and they will surely get their reward in due course.”
