As political manoeuvrings intensify ahead of the August governorship election in Osun State, the good people of our dear state must pause and reflect carefully on the future we truly desire.

Elections are not merely about party slogans or passing sentiments, but about competence, experience, stability, and the proven capacity to deliver development that touches the lives of ordinary people.

It is in this context that the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), deserves the earnest support of the people of Osun State.

Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji is widely regarded as a calm, disciplined, and highly experienced technocrat who has built a strong reputation in finance, administration, and public policy implementation.

With a professional background in banking and financial management, alongside years of public service, he possesses the practical knowledge required to manage the complex economic realities of a modern state.

During his tenure as Commissioner for Finance in Osun State, he played a pivotal role in steering the state through difficult economic periods, while laying a solid foundation for fiscal discipline and stability.

His administrative experience was further strengthened during his service as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), a strategic federal agency central to infrastructure and economic development.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, governance demands more than popularity. It requires expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to attract investments that create jobs and opportunities for the people.

These are qualities Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji has consistently demonstrated throughout his career.

Naturally, as with every serious political contest, there have been criticisms and attempts to question past decisions taken under previous administrations in Osun State.

One recurring issue raised in the public space is the period of half salary payments experienced by workers during a particularly challenging economic phase in the country.

However, it is important to place this development in its proper context. At the time, many states across Nigeria faced severe fiscal constraints due to declining federal allocations and broader economic pressures.

In Osun State, the difficult decisions taken were not driven by disregard for workers, but by the necessity to keep government running, preserve jobs, and maintain essential services.

The administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, faced with these realities, prioritised continuity in governance, infrastructure development, and social investment programmes, even under intense financial strain. These were not easy choices, but they were made in the long-term interest of the state.

Subsequently, the administration of Gboyega Oyetola focused on stabilising the financial system of the state, improving workers’ welfare, and gradually addressing inherited challenges through prudent and responsible management.

What this demonstrates is a pattern of leadership that confronts challenges head-on, makes tough but necessary decisions, and remains committed to the overall progress of the state.

Today, the conversation must move beyond the difficulties of the past and focus on the opportunities ahead.

With President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the helm, bold economic reforms are already underway to strengthen state finances and improve the welfare of workers and pensioners across the country.

These reforms are designed to ensure that the economic difficulties of the past do not recur.

For Osun State, this presents a unique opportunity.

With improved federal support and sound financial management under Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, the state stands to benefit immensely from renewed synergy between the federal government and progressive leadership at the state level.

Beyond financial management, AMBO’s vision for Osun State includes strategic investment in agriculture, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, quality education, and improved healthcare services.

His philosophy is simple — the prosperity of Osun must reach every segment of society: farmers in rural communities, traders in urban markets, artisans, professionals, students, and pensioners alike.

Osun State has always been known for its political awareness, resilience, and commitment to progressive ideals. Across every town and community, the desire for purposeful leadership and sustainable development remains strong.

This election presents a defining opportunity for the people of Osun State to support a candidate whose experience, calm disposition, and administrative competence align with the collective aspirations of the state.

Indeed, residents across Osun Central, Osun East, and Osun West stand to benefit from focused, inclusive, and forward-looking leadership.

At this critical moment, we must rise above divisive rhetoric and focus on competence, vision, and proven experience.

The message is clear.

Osun deserves experienced leadership.
Osun deserves sound economic management.
Osun deserves stability and progress.

Osun cannot risk it. AMBO delivers.

Let us unite to support a leader who has the knowledge, the experience, and the commitment to move Osun State forward.
