Barrister Asue Ighodalo, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for next year’s governorship election in Edo State, has declared that the state is uniquely placed to pull up by peer pressure some other states in the country.
He made the declaration in an interactive session with journalists held inside the Edo NUJ Secretariat in Benin City on Monday morning.
“I think Edo State is uniquely placed at this time in our history to develop at a rate that it will drive and pull up by peer pressure some of our other states in the country and consequently lead the development of Nigeria.
“I have tremendous faith in the people of Edo State and the economic capacity of the state.”
On his experience in governance he said: “My experience over the last few years has broadened my scope so widely that I kept thinking what more can we do and what more can we gain.
“Particularly, my experience since 2008 working on the Economic Teams of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Godwin Obaseki. What else can we do to help the people of Edo State. It come clear on my mind that Edo State has the capacity, the resources, it is advantageously located.
“And with the foundation that has been laid since 2008 and even before can become an economic and social oasis in Nigeria.”
Going further, Asue stressed: “I am a very optimistic person. I am looking into the future. What has passed has passed. We need to recalibrate. The capabilities to recalibrate abound.”
