Residents, supporters and political appointees in Orhionmwon Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State have vowed to troop out on September 19 to reelect the Edo State Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki.

Receiving the governor, his deputy and other members of the Edo State PDP Campaign Council in Ukpato Ward, Orhionmwon LGA, Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), Hon. Roland Asoro and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Development, Newman Ugiagbe, among other appointees from the area, promised to deliver all the votes in the LGA to the governor, to enable him consolidate on successes recorded in his first term.

According to Asoro, “The APC will be defeated in Ukpato Ward as all the people here have resolved to ensure PDP comes out victorious in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.”

Similarly, Ugiagbe noted: “The governor has honoured the people in Ukpato Ward by giving over three sons of the community political appointments in his administration. We promise the governor that 90 per cent of the votes in Ukpato Ward will be for the PDP. Failing to do this, we will all resign our appointments.”

On his part, Deputy Director-General of Edo State PDP Campaign Council, Gideon Ikhine, said: “In moving Edo State forward, one needs to separate politics from governance and this is what Governor Obaseki has tried to establish in the state.

“Unfortunately, some people want to mix governance with politics, thereby creating a platform to share the people’s wealth and determine how the governor should govern his people. They forget that Obaseki is not a ruler but a leader with exceptional qualities.”

He added: “Edo people have realised that the governor needs to be given more time to achieve his aim and vision of improving the well-being of the people.  There is a silent revolution going on in the state; the people are calling on the governor to continue for another four years.”
