Obaseki’s aide warns major marketers to desist from inflating cost of fuel in Edo

In view of the lingering scarcity and hike in price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in the country, the State Government sympathizes with the people of Edo State over the challenges faced in the purchase of PMS at filling stations across the State.

These long queues are caused by bottlenecks in the fuel supply chain, also there is a shortfall of PMS at the depots. The State Government in conjunction with the Nigerian Mainstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) is working assiduously in putting measures in place to source PMS for Independent Marketers in the state in order to flood the State with PMS which will help to bring down the pressure on prices at the pump. However, all Major Marketers in the state are adviced to desist from selling above the approved pump price in the interest of the citizens of Edo State.

To this end the Commissioner is calling on petroleum marketers to desist from diversion of PMS and also to collaborate with the state Government and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a hitch free supply chain as a Monitoring team has  been put in place to work hand in hand with security agencies to monitor distribution and sales of PMS.

Engr. Uzamere also used the opportunity to appreciate the citizens of the state for their cooperation and understanding during this trying period and to reaffirm the commitment of the state Government to the economic wellbeing of the good people of our great state.

From the Office of
Engr. Ethan Uzamere
Honourable Commissioner
Edo State Ministry of Mining, Oil and Gas
