Others are former Senator, Edo Central Senatorial District, Sen. Odion Ogbesia; former Senator, Edo South Senatorial District, Sen. Roland Owie; Edo South PDP Leader, Hon. Charles Idahosa, and former Special Adviser on Political Matters, Osaro Idah, among others.

According to the governor, “We started this journey together. Ogie is part of the whole process. The advice I have is for you to brace up to face more pressure than ever before.

“This is because one of the most difficult things in life is to change an aged system or to try to get an old person to change their ways. What we are attempting to do in the next four years will not be easy and we need all the support we can get to make Edo great again.

“There will be extreme pressure on you because people will want to do things in the way they are used to doing it.”

Obaseki continued: “Let’s all see the #EndSARs protests as a wakeup call. If we do not begin the process for rapid restructuring and transformation to give the younger generation an opportunity and hope, then we may all be victims.

“So, as you go about your duty this time, note that it is God that made it possible for us to have won our elections. Our purpose is to serve our people.”

Earlier in his remarks, Ogie noted: “I have been one of the pillars and I want to give my word today that I will remain a pillar in the journey to make Edo a better state.

“Let me thank our party leaders; we fought in an unusual election, but they showed understanding. I want to join the governor to appeal to you to continue to show that understanding, because at the end of the day all our interests are the same.”
