The Legacy PDP read a publication where the newly elected chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Edo State, Col. David Imuse (Rtd), said the Mr. Godwin Obaseki-led PDP Administration is the greatest scam that has ever happened in the political history of the state. In as much as we would like to agree with him in parts, we intend to use this medium to set the records straight going forward.
First, we congratulate Col. David Imuse on his election at the just concluded congresses and hope he will assert himself and his party as a veritable opposition in the state with the use of objective and constructive criticism to put the Governor of the state on his toes as he is fond of derailing at will from paths of honour.
We wish to inform the Col. Imuse’s APC that Mr. Godwin Obaseki does not represent the ideals and ideologies of PDP as he has shown in the past one year in office, nor is he upholding the tenets of the Party even if he was regrettably allowed to run under the umbrella of PDP. So it is out of place and out of order to ably qualify his government as a ‘PDP government in Edo State.’
Let it be known that the legacy PDP members are not part of his government in any form. From the governor, his deputy, SSG, Chief of Staff to the last 13 appoints recently made, none of them is a member of the legacy PDP, so it is out of place to call his government PDP when we do not have input in it or we do not take part in it.
What Mr. Godwin Obaseki is running as a sole administrator is with his APC elements, not with members of PDP, this must be understood. They alone constitute his ‘political sycophants, political predators, political opportunists and political vagabonds.” We must acknowledge that some hungry PDP members have joined his largesse of #50,000 and #25,000 for meetings to make illegal pronouncements unknown to our Constitution, such members have been forced into his fold for pecuniary gains. They are no longer comfortable with the authentic membership of PDP. They are agents of chaos and enabler of the autocratic sole administrator.
We also wish to let APC know that all the effronteries and illegalities as occasioned by the governor in PDP were as a result of the handover from APC’s OSM, the faction he created in the party before he left. PDP cannot take responsibilities for his actions and have openly disassociated the Party from his person.
