Comrade Festus Alenkhe, Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), has assured a leading candidate for the position of Deputy National President of the Union, Comrade Abimbola Oyetunde, that the whole of the delegates from the state for the National Delegates Conference holding in Owerri, the Imo State capital in November would be casting their votes for her, assuring her that “all the votes from the Edo State Council will be given to you.”
Comrade Alenkhe was reacting to Comrade Oyetunde’s official announcement of her purchase of the electoral form formally signifying her intentions to contest for the position of Deputy National President of the Union.
While making her formal declaration, Comrade Oyetunde after giving a background of her involvement in the Union politics which commenced from her days in the Lagos State Council where she became the Secretary of the Council, she promised to impact positively on the affairs of the Union if she gets elected.
She also promised to make use of her extensive contacts to uplift the affairs of the Union. She disclosed that her form was made available to her through the support of the Edo State Council which she stated has been of immense support to her over the years.
Members of the Council in their words of encouragement to the candidate assured her that her labour of love is not lost to them and they gave her the full assurance of giving her their votes at the National Delegates Conference.
Comrade Alenkhe assured Mrs. Oyetunde of the full support of the members of the Council which will translate to a 100 percent vote for her from the state delegates in Owerri.
Comrade Oyetunde is coming in to the position of Deputy National President of the NUJ on the back of her current position of National Trustee from the South South region.
