A socio-cultural group, Aiguobasinmwin Movement, has alleged that a Benin Palace Chief, Osaro Idah, has by his actions put the Palace in bad light.
In a statement signed by Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture(President) and Mr. Osayuki-Osa Benson(Secretary General) the group stated that “often times, we have raised alarms over the way and manner Chief Osaro Idah is handling any matter assigned to his Committee which has deeply put our highly revered Benin Palace in bad light.
“Most worrisome is that he always skewed the judgement of his Committee to suit his personal interest and those that patronizes him to do their biddings by saying ‘Oba has directed’ as against what our God’s King, Oba Ewuare II didn’t say.
“Sadly, most of the crisis bedeviling Communities in Edo South are caused by Chief Osaro Idah due to his high-handedness and appetite for personal gains.”
Going further, the group said: “We have intervened in some cases like Ugoneki, Umoghun-Zuagbor Communities etc in view to stopping the enemies of our highly revered Benin Palace to have their way.”
The petitioners appealed to the Oba of Benin “to excuse Chief Osaro Idah from all Committee and set up another Committee to immediately look into the Odionwereship matter in Ugoneki.”
