The Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF) is in celebratory mood on account of what it described as the remarkable performance of Team Nigeria at a recent international competition.

Atoe Jude, 3rd Dan, Secretary General of Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF), in a statement stated that “despite facing significant distractions from a small group of individuals, Team Nigeria was able to participate with three athletes.

“While one athlete was disqualified, two athletes competed, and we are thrilled to announce that Nigeria secured a bronze medal.”

Going further, NJF extended heartfelt gratitude to the National Sports Commission (NSC) “for their continued support in including Judo in the games.

“A special thank you goes to the President for his prompt action in ensuring the clearance of our athletes, despite the lack of prior knowledge.”

However, the NJF emphasized that the Technical Director “should have been more involved in the selection process, as such situations should not be encouraged by the supervising agency.”

In conclusion, the NJF expressed its appreciation to “the NSC, Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC), and all other stakeholders who intervened to ensure the success of our athletes.”
