The socio-political group said: “Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) worldwide wish to congratulate the people of Benin Kingdom for crossing over to 2021 having survived the torrid previous year (2020) which would be remembered for all its worldwide Covid-19 Pandemic and also its EndSARS protests around the country.

“We pray that this year the people would experience an upward trajectory in terms of the good life, good health and success in all endeavours they undertake.

“Also of concern to us is that the previous year witnessed different stories of insecurity from communal clashes, cult/gang wars etc which are alien to the peace and tranquility that is associated with the kingdom over the years and which we will never treat with kids’ gloves.

“Based on this premise, we call on all those who fan the ember of crisis to tow the path of peace this year as we have decided to henceforth take a different approach of nipping such issues of crisis in the bud as soon as they rare their ugly head so as not to place the people and the Kingdom in bad light in the eyes of the world.”

Going forward, the BSM said: “We are also conscious that the state government under the able leadership of His Excellency, Governor Godwin Neghoghase Obaseki, has mapped out lots of developmental projects to be cited in the kingdom which will no doubt usher prosperity to the Kingdom and, indeed, the state.

“BSM will do all within our assigned role as guards and protectors of the interests of Benin Kingdom to ensure that these projects are not sabotaged by the evil design of some mischievous elements who in the main are settlers in our midst.

“We look forward to a memorable year where abundance is the lot of our people in contrast to the harsh conditions that many experienced in 2020.”
