Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District, has broken his silence on social media amid the growing conversations surrounding his wife, popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.

The lawmaker took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to celebrate a recent achievement his recognition as the Best Performing Senator of the Year at the Democracy Heroes Award Africa 2025.

Although his post made no mention of the controversy currently circulating about his wife, the timing of his message has drawn widespread attention, coming just hours after a viral video of Regina Daniels stirred concern online.

Viral Video of Regina Daniels Triggers Speculation

Earlier this week, a short video featuring Regina Daniels in tears went viral across several social media platforms. In the emotional clip, the actress appeared visibly distressed, lamenting about the challenges she has allegedly faced in her marriage.

The video, which quickly spread among fans and gossip blogs, showed Regina being comforted by a few people as she expressed that she could no longer endure what she described as “the situation at home.”

The footage ignited a flurry of reactions, with fans and admirers flooding her comment sections to express worry about her wellbeing. Many called on close friends and family members to check on her, while others speculated that the clip might have been taken out of context or part of a movie scene.

Nwoko’s Celebration Amid Controversy

While the emotional video dominated online conversations, Senator Nwoko appeared unfazed as he shared photos and video clips from the Democracy Heroes Award Africa ceremony, where he was honoured for his legislative performance.

The senator attended the event alongside his Moroccan wife, Laila Charani, who was seen smiling and posing for photos with him at the venue.

In his post, Nwoko wrote:

“This recognition is not mine alone. It belongs to Anioma, to Delta North, and to every Nigerian who believes in purposeful leadership. I dedicate this award to a visionary ahead of his time, Sir Dennis Osadebay. His dream for Anioma State continues through our collective pursuit of justice and good representation.”

Mixed Reactions Trail His Statement

The senator’s post immediately sparked conversations online, with many users interpreting it as a subtle attempt to shift public attention away from the viral video involving Regina Daniels.

Some fans praised him for maintaining focus on his political achievements despite the trending controversy, while others criticized the timing of his post, describing it as “insensitive” and “poorly timed.”

As of the time of filing this report, neither Senator Ned Nwoko nor Regina Daniels has issued an official statement to address the circulating video or clarify the state of their marriage.
