The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Benin Branch, Lion’s Bar, has bestowed an Award of Distinguished Service on the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, for his immense contribution to the society through his crime reportage.
The Chairman of the branch, Mr. Nosa Edo-Osagie Esq, who presented the award to Comrade Alenkhe, said he was considered for the award after thorough scrutiny of his contributions to the society.
According to Edo-Osagie, Comrade Alenkhe stood out among others who were selected for the same award due to his uncommon professional touch to his reportage of crime activities within and outside Nigeria. He called for collaboration between lawyers and journalists in all spheres of life with a view to moving the society forward.
Receiving the Distinguished Service Award, Comrade Alenkhe thanked the the Benin Branch of the NBA for deeming him worthy for such a prestigious award. He described lawyers as one of the foremost professionals in the world.
Comrade Alenkhe said, the award would spur him to do more for societal development as part of his contributions to rid-off the society of crime and criminality.
He said that the NBA and NUJ will continue to work in synergy to correct the wrongs in the society and ensure that it is free from all forms of social vices for citizens to move freely without fear or intimidation. He commended the lawyers for fighting crime through their legal defence in various courts of law in the land and their resilience to upholding justice and the rule of law.
Comrade Alenkhe, who holds an Executive MASTERCLASS certificate from the London Centre For Training and Development, was a guest speaker at the Law Week of the Nigeria Bar Association, Benin Branch which held recently in Benin City.
