Natives of Uhogua community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State have called on the Edo State House of Assembly to disregard a petition purportedly written by one Charles Asemota wherein the petitioner raised the alarm that some persons are fueling crisis in the community.

Asemota purportedly wrote a petition to the House of Assembly wherein he raised the alarm that Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, Executive Director, Home for the Needy Foundation, operator of the lnternally Displaced Persons(IDPs) Camp in the community is sponsoring crisis.

But the Enogie of the community, His Royal Highness, Osagumwenro Emmanuel Idunwonyi, while reacting to the petition during a press briefing in his palace, described it as “baseless, unfounded and initiated by those determined to cause trouble and crisis in Uhogua community.”

In the press statement signed by the Enogie, the Odionwere of the Community and seven other indigenes of the community, they said they have no issue with Pastor Folorunsho since he started the IDPs camp, rather he has been meeting up with his social responsibility.

The Enogie said: “The news of this petition took me and the elders by surprise as neither myself nor
elders in council authorised the said petition before the Edo State House of Assembly. To say the least, we are not party to the said petition.”

He added: “The IDPs camp has since its establishment in our community maintained a healthy relationship with us the Enogie, elders and indigenes of Uhogua community.”

According to him: “The residents of the camp have never gotten involved in any act that can be referred to as security threat to our lives and property of our community.”

He continued: “We have lived together peacefully over the years with the camp discharging its corporate social responsibility(CSR) to the community such as grading of the earth road leading to the community, award of scholarship to our brilliant but indigent students, financial and materials assistants to widows in the community amongst others.”
