N30m Edo governorship form: It’s against LP’s social democratic ideals, says party faithful

A Labour Party (LP) faithful in Edo State, Dr. Mashido Eghaghe, has added his voice to that of many others who are complaining about the huge sum of N30m placed on acquisition of forms for the governorship poll coming up in September.

In an open letter he penned to the party’s National Committee he stated: “I hope this message finds you all in great health. As a concerned member of the Labour Party(LP) and a stakeholder in Edo State, I am writing to bring to your attention an issue of public concern in Edo State.

“I feel compelled to add my voice to this matter. As the LP candidate for the chairmanship of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, I share the concerns of many about the exorbitant gubernatorial ticket fee of N30 million.

“This fee goes against our party’s social democratic ideals and makes it difficult for ordinary working-class citizens to participate.

“I urge you to reconsider this price to promote social justice and make the party more accessible to all. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
