“By the grace of God my show of interest to become the chairman of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Council of Edo State is not by mistake. I really mean business.

“When I was growing up our leaders/fathers normally say that the youths are the leaders of tomorrow. I think the time is now ripe for the youths to wake up and show the world that they’re now prepared to take up the challenge of leadership.

“I look at certain things that are happening in the environment and come to a conclusion that now is the right time to really show the world that we are ready to pilot affairs up to any level and in whatever capacity we, the youths, can do it.

“All we want is for our fathers/leaders to create that avenue for us to excel politically.”

Asked if he has what it takes to win, Osunde, who is presently a correspondent of Galaxy TV in Edo State, said: “You must plan well. Stepping out to contest for any elective position does not mean that you want to embezzle money. You must have a vision that you key into.

“What is paramount is for you to show people the way forward. Before you embark on any journey you must be prepared. What I mean by preparation is not about the amount of money you have in your pocket. What you need is the idea to back up your plans.

“You go into political office as a servant. The era whereby people go into elective position for the sole purpose of embezzling public fund is gone. You will see that if a law is passed to reduce the amount of money that is made available for political office holders the game will change and dedicated people will emerge.”

Osunde stressed the need to empower youths saying that by so doing they are made to engage in positive things and keep away from crime.

“Some political leaders by their body language are out to frustrate you. When I go and consult with them their question is how much do I have to organise a successful campaign.

“I believe in the music of God not that of humans. If God says yes who can say no? Most of these political leaders have travelled abroad and they know that what is obtainable there is very different from what they are clamouring for.

“Let us think of how to improve on the living conditions of the people not how to embezzle public funds. We should set our mind on getting such patriotic people interested in elective office.”
