It was an atmosphere of joy and celebration on Easter Sunday, as Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, paid a visit to the Edo State PDP Chairman, Hon. Tony Aziegbemi. Shaibu was accompanied on the visit by friends and political associates.

Aziegbemi was recently abducted by unknown gunmen in Benin City and endured eleven harrowing days in the hands of his captors. Shaibu was full of excitement, while expressing joy on the safe return of Aziegbemi.

According to him: “we came to celebrate Easter with our chairman and also thank God for his safe return home from the den of kidnappers.”

The Deputy Governor used the occasion to wish well-meaning Nigerians, particularly Edo Christian faithful, peaceful Easter celebration. He posited that the Easter season could only be meaningful if Nigerians manifest the virtues of love, sacrifice and compassion.

Speaking, a highly elated Aziegbemi warmly welcomed the Deputy Governor and his entourage to his palatial Benin residence. He shared his experiences while in captivity, recounting the difficult moments he  faced in the hands of his abductors.

He emphasized that he would not wish anyone, even his worst enemies, to go through the ordeal he had in the kidnappers den, even as he recounted the trauma and fears he endured during his captivity.

The visit by the state number two citizen served as a symbol of solidarity, friendship and gratitude for Aziegbemi’s safe return to his family and friends who were apprehensive of his safety after he was kidnapped.
