Lion Izo grassroots football tourney to end in funfair in Benin City

All roads lead to the Paragon Group of Schools field in Benin City this afternoon(Sunday, May 9th, 2021) when the curtains would be drawn on the Lion Izo Football Championship with Yak Spor FC and BJ Foundation playing the final match.

The match scheduled to kick off at 4:00 pm will be preceeded by a colourful closing ceremony which according to the organizers will begin by 12:00 noon with fans being thrilled to supply of melodious music by some selected indigenous artistes.

The colourful entertainment will be complimented with cultural troupes displaying the stuff they are made of.

According to the President of Lion Izo Foundation and the Chief Organizer of the grassroots football tournament, Ambassador Eghe Iyekoretin Igiozee, selected best eleven team will be unveiled along with awards for best coach; best goalkeeper and most valuable player of the tournament.

Meanwhile,the tournament which kicked off three weeks ago with sixteen teams has no place for third place finishers as Ine Stars and Keyne-Ben FC who lost to Yak Spor FC and BJ Foundation by same 5-3 goal margin in the semifinals will only be spectators today.
