Indigenes of Evbovbioba Community in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State have called on Governor Godwin Obaseki, the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, and other relevant authorities to save them from what they described as oppression from the hand of Chief Osamede Adun(aka Bob Izua), the Aiyobahan of Benin Kingdom, over squabbles on land ownership in their community.

Elders of the community stated this during an enlarged meeting today at the town hall saying Chief Adun now goes around harassing and arresting the people with thugs and security personnels.

“Chief Adun just want to stress us. He claimed our land belong to him from  where he said the land started from, we took his paper, we started to count until it got to where his paper exhausted, that was where we pegged, he then told us that the other paper were kept in his house. That he was going back to bring them for verification. Till date we are still waiting for him with the papers he promised.

“So, such a person is coming to our community to make us homeless, as old as our elders are, we will not accept that from him, our elders are no longer in our community.

“We want to appeal to the relevant authorities including the Oba of Benin Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, to come to our aid,” he said.

According to Prince Kester Izevbokun, “there was a strange call to me that, Bob Izua came with thugs to the community and beat up some elders and also handed them over to the police, as I am talking now we are currently hiding ourselves in the neighboring villages all for safety and we are calling on the relevant authorities to come to our aid.”

Also collaborating Prince Izevbokun was Ede Ogbeide.  “Bob Izua is claiming half of the community land, from the major road to the river side. From the beginning of the community to the end point. As for me I don’t know who Bob Izua is,” he claimed.

Reacting to the allegation via a telephone conversation, Chief Osamede Adun said: “I don’t want to say anything now. l travelled out of Benin. When l come back l will call you.”
