The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has said that Kenneth Okonkwo, a lawyer and Nollywood actor is still “living in bondage”.

Eno said this while reacting to Okonkwo’s comment on the governor’s recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The actor and member of the Labour Party(LP) during a television interview described Eno as ‘a transgenderic politician’ for moving from the opposition to the ruling party.

However, reacting to Okonkwo’s comment, Eno said Okonkwo should focus on issues that are of concern to him.

The governor said, “So people that are talking, even those that are not from Akwa Ibom even those who feel they have done things. They’ve tried everything, they’ve tried to become actors, they’ve failed; they are still living in bondage. Trying to put their mouth into what does not concern them.”

Living in Bondage is the title of one of the first Nollywood movies Okonkwo starred in during his early days as an actor.

Continuing the governor said, “Tell them that this is living reality, he should go to his state and fight, he’d an attempted politician, he tried the Labour Party, he ran away. He tried acting, he was living in bondage; he’s an attempted lawyer, he has never moved one motion before.

“So, such people, don’t listen to them. This is within my right and he’s not from Akwa Ibom State. We don’t welcome him in Akwa Ibom State,” Governor Eno said.

Eno further stated that the issue of his defection or political choices is an Akwa Ibom State matter and not something that should bother Okonkwo.

“As the person in the driver’s seat today, I am the one holding the steering and I know where go-slow no go dey,” he concluded in Pidgin English.
