Just In: Edo Deputy Governor walks out of 32nd anniversary event in protest

The ‘war’ between the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, took another twist on Monday afternoon.

The gist at Popular News disposal is that the crisis reared its head when Comrade Shaibu arrived at the venue of the 32nd year anniversary of the state creation.

“As Comrade Shaibu and his team made up of protocol officers, security personnel and media crew made their way into the hall where the event was been held, security operatives and protocol officers of the governor refused to grant entry to the media crew.

“This action did not go down well with the Deputy Governor who insisted that his media crew should be allowed into the venue or else he leaves with all members of his team.

“After close to 30 minutes of cross exchange between Comrade Shaibu and the governor’s team didn’t produce a solution he had no option than to carry out his threat by leaving with his team,” our source divulged.

Insiders asserted that the action of the governor’s security operatives and protocol officials must have been informed by the recent trending picture where Comrade Shaibu was seen being barred from getting access to Governor Obaseki at one of the programmes that heralded the 32nd year anniversary of the creation of Edo State.

Meanwhile, Musa Ebomhiana, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) of Comrade Shaibu denied the story trending in some quarters that Comrade Shaibu’s office has been relocated to outside the Government House.

“As we speak I am inside the Deputy Governor’s office situated inside Government House. So, lets be careful of the kind of reports that we peddle around,” Ebomhiana stressed.
