Just In: APC NWC rejects Edo governorship primaries outcome

For the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State it is not yet uhuru as the National Working Committee(NWC) of the party has declared last Saturday’s governorship primary election inconclusive. The highly controversial exercise had produced three different candidates.

In one instance, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ovia Federal Constituency, Dennis Idahosa, was declared winner by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee.

Elsewhere Senator Monday Okpebholo, who represents Edo Central Senatorial District, was declared winner by Stanley Ugboaja, the Returning Officer for the election.

While in another instance Sunday Anamero Dekeri, who represents Etsako Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was adjudged to have won by Ojo Babatunde, spokesman for the local government returning officers. 

On Tuesday evening, at the end of an emergency meeting of the APC National Working Committee(NWC) held to resolve the logjam, the party stated: “The NWC resolves that the Edo State governorship primary election has not been completed and has now fixed Thursday, February 22, 2024 for the completion of the APC primary election process.”
