The senate hopeful, who is of the Labour Party(LP), is of the opinion that making June 12 a Democracy Day is not ideal and is a poorly conceived and executed idea which he tagged the brain child of people who ordinarily are bereft of progressive ideas which can only lead the country to chaos on the long run.

“I am of a different opinion on the issue of making June 12 Democracy Day. Rather, the day should be tagged “MKO Abiola Memorial Day” in remembrance of the democratic ideals that the late Chief MKO Abiola stood for and he practiced.

“May 29th, which is the day that a new government is sworn in every four years, should now be called democracy day. It’s a way of letting the world concentrate fully on the political ideals of Chief Abiola on June 12 while May 29th should remind us of the change of guard from one administration to another.

“This will no doubt make Nigerians to accord the spirit of Chief Abiola the respect it deserves and give him accolades as a champion of democracy. “

In conclusion he submitted: “This forms a part of my agenda to right the wrong even as I give my constituents the type of representation that they will be eternally proud of as the days progress.”
