The National Chairman of the Labour Party(LP), Barrister Julius Abure, has officially flagged off the party’s campaign for the Edo Central Senatorial bye-election, declaring that it is time for Uromi to produce a senator for the district.

Addressing a large crowd of supporters at the campaign launch held in Uromi on Monday, August 4, Barrister Abure passionately appealed to the people of Edo Central to rally behind the LP candidate, Hon. Paul Omo Okojie, ahead of the Saturday, August 16 bye-election.

“It is Uromi’s turn to produce a Senator. Other local governments in the district have had their time. Now is the time for Uromi to take its rightful place,” Abure said.

He highlighted that the LP holds a clear advantage in the race due to the strength and credibility of its candidate. According to him, Hon. Okojie is not only a youth but a vibrant and dogged leader with the vision and energy to represent the yearnings of the people.

The party chairman urged members and supporters present to mobilize their various LGAs and wards to vote massively for Hon. Okojie, whom he described as the only legitimate flag-bearer of the LP.

Abure also issued a stern warning to impersonators, stating clearly that: “Labour Party has only one authentic senatorial candidate for this bye-election and he is Hon. Paul Omo Okojie. Anyone else parading themselves as our candidate should be arrested and prosecuted.”

In his remarks, Hon. Paul Omo Okojie reaffirmed his commitment to the race, stating that he is not stepping down for anyone and is fully determined to win the election and serve the people.

“This election is not about me it’s about giving Edo Central a strong, credible, and people-driven voice in the Senate,” Okojie said.

He decried the poor state of infrastructure in the district and warned voters to reject moneybag politicians who disappear after elections.

“This is our moment to resist deceitful politicians who bring stipends before elections and vanish after. Let’s vote wisely,” he charged.

If elected, Hon. Okojie pledged to attract an agro-research institute to Edo Central to help farmers add value to their produce. He also listed primary healthcare, education, and the introduction of a technology hub as his top legislative priorities.
