All eyes now on Supreme Court, says Asue Ighodalo

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has promised to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state not minding the negative narratives being preached by naysayers about his achievements.

He made the promise while on a courtesy call to the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Council on Wednesday evening.

The governor gave kudos to journalists practicing in the state for reporting activities of the state government with an open mind and in accordance with the ethics of the journalism profession.

Going down memory lane, he recalled with nostalgia that he kick started his governorship campaign in 2016 by building a cordial relationship with the media practitioners.

On the issue of the deplorable condition of federal roads passing through the state, Governor Obaseki disclosed that much as the state government is desirous of fixing some of the roads official bureaucracy and the need to avoid overlapping the duties of the federal government has been factors working against such desire.

He cited instances where the state government had made moves to intervene in fixing some of the bad portions of the federal roads only to be informed that the federal government had already awarded such contracts.

Welcoming the governor to the Secretariat, Chairman of the Edo State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, stated that journalists would not relent in carrying out their duties as stipulated in the Nigerian Constitution while also disclosing that the Council has been able to weed out quacks from its midst.

In the Governor’s entourage were some top officials of his administration which included Chief of Staff, Osaigbovo Iyoha; the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Osa Nehikhare and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie.
