A 24 years old councillorship aspirant in Oredo Local Government ward 4 of Edo State, entrepreneur and a graduate of Benson Idahosa University(BIU), Ms Oyemwen Ehimwenma, Wednesday, urged Nigeria youth to join politics to effect the desire change in the country.

She said the signing into law of the Not Too Young To Run bill by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018 further paved way for young people to take part in democratic progress in the country.

Ehimwenma, who is running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also expressed optimism that in the nearest future Nigeria will produce a female President like other advanced climes.

Speaking on her interest in politics she stated, “growing up, I was raised to understand the principles of politics and the concept of power. I was raised to know that the best way out is to be ‘for the people’, to understand and to help them.

“To me, politics isn’t about how much money I would have in my pockets. I have no business for that. Politics is about what I can do to change the world, to change my immediate environment and this is why I want to run.

“I was born and raised by powerful women in politics. It’s safe to say that politics runs in my DNA.

“Running for councilor-Oredo Ward 1 is the right platform for me to help my people at the grassroots level. Running for councilor is a stepping stone for me in my political career.

“Nigeria is not ready for a female president now. But in the next 10 to 15 years the time might just be right. And it could be from the South-South region and probably I could be me.”
