How we used modern technology to arrest Uwaila’s murderers – Edo CP

Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has finally gotten to the root of the dastardly rape and murder of a 100 Level student of the Department of Microbiology, University of Benin (Uniben), Uwaila Vera Omozuwa on Wednesday, May 27th, 2020, in a suburb of Benin City.

Addressing pressmen at the Command Headquarters the  state Commissioner of Police Johnson Babatunde Kokumo revealed how with the support of the Inspector General of Police(IGP) Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, his men using advanced technology like DNA and forensic tools, unravelled the mystery surrounding the gruesome murder.

“We put in place forensic and DNA tools. The investigations been a tremendous improvement on the usual police investigation. 

“Pathologists were involved, forensic scientists were involved, DNA experts were involved. Samples of course we’re taken from the deceased. Samples were equally taken from some of the suspects.

“And we have been able to establish matches between the samples – samples taken from the deceased and samples taken from some of the suspects.

“Apart from confessions and verbal statements we have equally been able to establish scientific evidence that of course are not controvertible. No controversy. You cannot controvert the evidences we have established,” he stated.

Those arrested and still undergoing interrogation in respect of the case Mary Adeh, Tina Samuel, Nosa Osabohien, Collins Ulegbe, Akato Valentine and Nelson Ogbebor. Still on the run is Lucky Boro.
