How rumour of arrival of bandits in Osun State caused bedlam on the streets

It started off as a security alert the previous night (Thursday) that bandits have found their way to the Iwo – Osogbo Road.

Travellers were warned to avoid that part of the state that night.

By Friday morning it has turned to a big scare as the rumour spread around Osogbo, the Osun State capital that the dregs of the society were getting set for an operation in the mould of abductions as it has happened in some neighbouring states.

The sad news quickly went round town and school management officials had to send the message forth that parents should come and pick their children from school and pupils who are yet to get to school should stay back home.

In minutes the streets of Osogbo and other neighbouring towns were turned into confusion as everyone was running helter skelter to meet up with the warning signal issued out. In the ensuing bedlam lots of people got injured on their way to be safe.
