High performance driven governance a hallmark of Governor Obaseki’s administration

The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Edo State Chapter on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the governor of the State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

The women journalists were received by the Honourable Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Hon. Chris Nehikare, at the Ministry’s Conference Room on the directive of the Governor.

The Chairperson of Edo NAWOJ, Comrade Adesuwa Ehimuan, in her speech commended the government of Governor Godwin Obaseki on his developmental stride in the state, as well as his signing into law the VAPP bill.

Comrade Ehimuan however appealed to the governor to look into some of the needs of the association which include furnishing the association with a befitting secretariat, women development hub and creche as well as vehicle to aid the mobility of her members.

Responding Mr. Nehikhare appreciated the work being done by women journalists in the state and promised to convey the demands of the association to the governor as well as crave the support of the governor on behalf of the association.

On the issue of promotion of staff of Edo Broadcasting Service(EBS) raised by the chairperson of the association, he stated that this government was a high performance, driven government, and that the EBS was already being transformed to suit the vision of the government hence the issue of promotion would be handled without any form of sentiments.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barrister Solomon Imohiosen, appreciated NAWOJ for solidifying with the ministry and promised them of his continued support.

The event had in attendance Directors of the Ministry while over 15 women journalists drawn from the various chapels of Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) accompanied Comrade Ehimuan on the visit.
