A group, Coalition Of Civil Society Leaders and Practitioners Of Edo State, has called on the security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to be vigilant in order to halt the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Accusing the governor of manipulative tendencies, the group said he should be stopped before and after the scheduled Edo Governorship elections which will hold next Saturday.
The group made the call at a Press Briefing it held on Saturday afternoon in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
The petitioners, while drawing attention to the alleged secret moves by Governor Obaseki to influence the Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike “in other to pressure his cousin, who is the Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC) of Edo State, in a bid to manipulating the outcome of the fast approaching governorship elections in favour of his anointed candidate, Asue Ighodalo.”
According to the Coalition Barrister Wike turned down what they tagged as  the “undemocratic and self centered request of the governor.
“Hence, the reason why Godwin Obaseki is advocating for the redeployment of the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Edo State.”
