Group calls for well equipped police and army

Ambassador Odion Cedrack Okpebholo, National President of Worldwide Movement for a United Nigeria(WMUN), has called on the government to “provide and  equip our Police and Army with world class materials and take care of their well being to enable them  protect themselves and safeguard the  citizens of Nigeria.”

In a statement he titled ‘The state of the nation Nigeria in military sector’ Okpebholo said: “The rate at which our army and the  police are dying  today in  Nigeria is alarming. This has produced lots of widows and fatherless children in the sector, which is not acceptable to us.

“In developed countries, the  army are not seen on the streets with uniforms, but in the barracks being taken  care of and preparing them for any eventuality while the police goes around every corner to be sure that the areas are safe and they  are well taken  care of with large salaries and free education for their children because they are life savers. In Nigeria, the  reverse is the case.

“In the light of this, the Worldwide Movement for A United Nigeria (WMUN) as part of our peace movement in the country, urge the federal government of Nigeria to provide and  equip our Police and Army with world class materials and take care of their well being to enable them  protect themselves and safeguard the  citizens of Nigeria.

“We also use this medium to call on the Inspector General of Police(IGP) and the Chief of  Army Staff (COAS), to be more proactive and make sure  their men are protected in service.”
