Gov. Diri’s aide applauds Africa Diaspora Union over Bayelsa monarch’s appointment

Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Bayelsa State Governor on Tourism, Mr. Piriye Kiyaramo, on behalf of the management of Yenagoa Boat Club, has applauded the Board of the African Diaspora Union (AFRIDU) and African Union 6th Region for unanimously approving the appointment of His Royal Majesty, King Alfred Diete Spiff as the Special Royal Envoy to the body.

In a statement in Yenagoa, Mr. Kiyaramo, who also doubles as the Honorary Secretary of the Yenagoa Boat Club, expressed satisfaction with the inauguration of King Alfred Diete Spiff as Chairman of the African Diaspora Traditional Rulers Council in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on May 22, 2022, to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Adoption of the African Union African Diaspora Declaration. 

The governor’s aide said that it was heartwarming that King Alfred Diete Spiff was nominated to give the royal traditional address at the Pan African Roots Synergy Roundtable which commenced on May 24th – May 27th in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, noting that King Alfred Diete Spiff by the appointment is the first Nigerian to be the Special Royal Envoy  to AFRIDU. 

The appointment of King Alfred Diete Spiff is expected to bring positive dramatic turn of global events to Bayelsa and Nigeria in the areas of African Diaspora Direct Investment through the Africa Diaspora development investment fund, African diaspora public, private partnership projects (PPP), academic, cultural exchanges and scholarship to the people. 

By this appointment HRM King Alfred Diete Spiff is to liaise with of all kings and kingdoms in Africa, including the West Indies, Caribbean, Cuba, Latin America and South America. 

The appointment letter dated May 12, 2022, signed by Dr. Barryl A. Biekman on behalf of the African Union-African Diaspora, African Diaspora Union 6th Region Europe and Archbishop, Dr. Chidiebere A. Ogbu of African Diaspora Union, South Africa, reads in parts: 

“Sequel to your indomitable and ingenious tract record of Peace building in Africa, the board of the African Diaspora Union (AFRIDU) do hereby unanimously approve your appointment as the Special Royal Envoy to the African Diaspora Union (AFRIDU) and the African Union 6th Region, to give the royal traditional address at the Pan African Roots Synergy Roundtable, May 24th – May 27th on the 10th anniversary of the Adoption of the African Union African Diaspora Declaration.

“In our search for high level African authorities, officials in governments in the various national African Union states to invite them to speak on our Roundtable, we have stumbled upon your important merits.

“We believe that you are the right high level authority from Africa to deliver the historical Statement as member of the African Royal Kingdoms and to encourage the Royal Kings to support the full implementation of the African Union-African Diaspora Declaration that was adopted in 2012. 

“And it is in this context that we would like to welcome you as a keynote Speaker at the Roundtable conference.”

In attendance at the Addis Ababa event include: Heads of State, Governments, Representatives of the African Union, the West Indies, Caribbean, Latin America, South America, and varied representatives from the African Diaspora all over the world.
