Firm launches world class online taxi booking services in Edo

A world class online taxi booking services firm, Univasa Nigeria Limited, an information technology company, has launched an online taxi booking services and pledged to close the gaps in the state’s transportation sector.

Speaking at the unveiling of the application-based taxi booking and roundtable with stakeholders in Benin City, Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Dr Ben Adeniyi, said the innovation was conceived to ease the stress on commuters who go to taxi parks to book transport service.

Adeniyi, who was represented by the General Manager, John Oyakhilome, anticipated expansion of the e-hailing services to other states of the federation before the end of the year.

He disclosed that the firm would offer drivers fuel bonus, weekend bonus for parties, annual healthcare insurance and referral bonus on the basis of the number of rides the drivers achieved.

While noting that over 170 drivers had been engaged, he added that the revenue share between the drivers and the company would be 90 per cent and 10 per cent.

He said a tracking device had been installed in the vehicles in the event of theft, adding that all the drivers needed to do was to press the distress signal and the customers care would immediately notify the nearest police station.

Adeniyi lamented the deplorable state of roads across the state, urging the government to rehabilitate them to give transporters smooth ride to their respective destinations.

“We are an indigenous company, and we are here to make transportation easy for everyone in Edo State. We dreamt of today’s achievements happening and we are happy to see its realisation.

“We understand some riders may not have data and that is why the ride hailing feature can also be used offline on the application or by calling our hotlines where a driver will be directed to them,” he said.
