After Supreme Court where next for Asue Ighodalo

Engr. Gideon Ikhine, one the three aspirants that were compelled to step down for Governor Godwin Obaseki in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries in 2020, has called it quits with the party.

He handed in his resignation letter to the chairman of the party in his ward in Esan West Local Government Area last weekend. His action followed in the foot steps of another PDP ex-governorship aspirant in the state, Barrister Kenneth Imansuangbon, who had earlier dumped the party and moved to the Labour Party (LP).

In a telephone chat with Popular News he revealed that one of his reasons for leaving the PDP is because the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, zoned the 2024 governorship position in the state to the South Senatorial District.

“Shouldn’t my foolishness be over? For three years Obaseki has never given me N1(One Naira). I didn’t ask him(for money). I supported him. He won. He has given a lot of appointments(to many people).

“He has never told me to bring a goat to eat grass in Government House. Not even to supply a bottle of water. What have I done?

“Then of recent the man had a meeting with his people and said he has zoned governorship(in 2024) to Edo South Senatorial District. So, what happens to other senatorial districts? I don’t have problem with him. He is doing what he knows how to do best.

“Let me withdraw from the party(PDP). In the next few days I will let you know(where I am heading to). I have not decided where I am going to but in the next few days you will see where I am going,” he submitted.

There are feelers that the majority of Engr. Ikhine’s supporters are urging him to pitch tent with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
