Kelly Okungbowa(aka Capacity Ebo Stone), National Coordinator, Youth for Youth, has revealed that he knows the identities of those who shot at Inspector Akor Onu, the casualty of the Benin Airport chaos on Thursday afternoon.
He narrated: “On Thursday we went to the Benin Airport to go and show solidarity support for the deputy governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu, who is my bosom friend. We were there in large numbers singing and clapping awaiting his arrival. When he arrived he asked us to accompany him to his house.
“We got the information that some PDP(People’s Democratic Party) members and operatives of the state vigilantes network were laying siege outside the airport. We drew the attention of the state Commissioner of Police(CP Funsho Adegboye) to the information.
“When one of my boys went on an errand outside the airport to get water they accosted him, beat him and took everything he had on him. When he returned to the airport we took him to the Commissioner of Police and he promised that he would do something about it.
“We adviced the CP to re-enforce to dislodge those laying siege at the gate. He said okay. When the deputy governor and his entourage were leaving we noticed that the intruders were still at the gate. We called the CP’s attention to our discovery. Before we knew what was happening the CP had driven out of the airport in the opposite direction.
“As we drove out the intruders started shooting at us. A bullet hit the Policeman(InspectorAkor Onu) and that was how he died. I was the one standing next to him. I know those that were there that did the shooting. I saw them. I know their names. They’re allies of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
“Some of them are the park chairmen, the thugs and the vigilantes that he is using. What happened on Thursday is a very unfortunate thing. We’re begging the President (Bola Tinubu) that they should look into this matter very well. That what the Edo CP is doing is partisan. That they should do the needful to make sure Edo State is safe for everyone of us to live.”
