Okpebholo has repositioned Edo Sports to reclaim its glory – Deputy Governor

Key into Shine Agenda CPS to Okpebholo pleads with reporters

Dr. Osahon Enabulele, the immediate past President of the World Medical Association (WMA), who was the keynote speaker at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) Summit on Wednesday has charged civil servants to meet up with the newest demand of transformation of the service.

Speaking on ‘The Future of Work in the Public Service’ Enabulele commended the organisers of the Summit “for the choice of the topic which in my well considered view is very appropriate considering various developments across the world.”
According to him, “the public service is constantly faced with the challenge of adapting to new government and we saw that during the military era, and of course in the civilian dispensation, and execution of their mandate.”
Anthony Okungbowa, the Edo State Head of Service, gave kudos to the state government under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo for its dedication to the process of upgrading the capacity of the state civil servants in line with modern day ideals.
Okungbowa disclosed that the Governor Monday Okpebholo led Edo State Government has shown its interest in transforming the activities and operational efficiency of the civil service and it’s only left for them to key in and benefit tremendously.
In her address, the Director General (DG) of the JOOPSA, Dr. Gina Otamere, stated: “People are the true engine of development. Infrastructure, technology and policies are important but without competence, skills and motivated human beings development remains only an idea.
“Learning and development therefore sit at the very heart of sustainable growth and effective governance. In today’s rapidly changing world governments around the globe are redefining how they work.”
She asserted that the essence of the programme is to enhance capacity building in the Edo State civil and public service. She added that the outing is not about training but mindset change, institutional learning and long term transformation.
Chairman of the Edo State Civil Service Commission (CSC), Mr. Oko-Ose Samuel, charged civil servants to be up and doing while discharging their duties affirming that their dependence on the support of godfathers is not ideal and will serve them nothing worthwhile.
