Ex-Edo Council Chairman points the way forward for youth development

Destiny Enabulele, the immediate past Chairman of Ovia South West Local Government Council of Edo State, has averred that “there is a need for proper education and skill development of the Nigerian youth so that they can prosper in the right direction.”

He made the aversion on the occasion of the 1st JCI (Junior Chamber International) Edo Bronze Convention/Investiture held at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre in Benin City over the weekend.

According to him, “Historically, the Nigerian youth has played a pivotal role in the growth development and prosperity of our nation. This can be improved on if the talent in our youth are identified and nurtured early in life.”

Enumerating the challenges faced by youths, Enabulele, who is the standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the State House of Assembly in Ovia South West Constituency in the 2023 polls, said: “Youths are the architect of their misfortune. We have internalised the wrong precedence of corrupt politicians.

“We choose violence instead of peace and mutual coexistence. We choose the comfort of the moment instead of striving for self- sacrifice that will guarantee the freedom of this country.

“The qualities of tomorrow’s leaders lie in the characters of today’s followers. The number of youths in a country is almost the highest among all citizens in most countries, therefore there must be proper planning and decision making for their proper development and success.

“Unfortunately, the youths in the country is tackled up with several problems.”

He submitted that education is the panacea for the challenges faced by the youths.

“Good education prepares one to impact positively on self and society. Government must provide this and youths must seek and desire to be educated at all levels,” he stressed.

While handing over to JC Henry Asemota, the outgoing President, Ambassador Blessing Eson thanked her sponsors and supporters saying that her journey would not have been complete if nobody sponsored or supported her.

Highlight of the auspicious event was the presentation of awards to some personalities who have been supportive of the JCI.
