Speaking with newsmen in Benin,  Stewart said the allegation by the Edo State Government in a petition to the Inspector General of Police(IGP) over Thursday’s(July 18, 2024) breakdown of law and order in the State is targeted at tarnishing his rising political profile and reputation following his defection to the All Progressives Congress(APC).

He said, having served the Governor Godwin Obaseki led government as a Commissioner, he remained committed to enthroning good governance and leadership in the state.

He explained that while some politicians in his locality, and Egor Local Government Council were pursuing their own selfish interest by running the party aground, the party failed to rein in the likes of such disgruntled politicians and he found it unacceptable and dumped the PDP.

According to him, “when it became obvious that I cannot work with a political nitwit spearheading the PDP activities in Egor Local Government Council, I had no choice but to leave the party because I was too enlightened to be controlled by an illiterate politician and a motor park leader.”

He urged the public to disregard the falsehood in a statement by the state government which allegedly dragged him into the violence adding that he has no business whatsoever with the PDP and their co-travellers who are busy disturbing the peace of the state instead of focusing on winning the September 21st governorship election.
