But for Moses Uyi Osaretin, broadcaster, public relations professional, and humanitarian, the half-century mark became something more — a call to serve humanity in a profound way.
On August 29, 2025, Uyi Osaretin celebrated his 50th birthday not with fanfare, but with 16 successful free surgeries for indigent patients who had no means of paying for medical care.
Alongside this, he hosted a Birthday Colloquium themed “The Journey of Life: The Essence of Giving Back,” where conversations centered on life’s purpose and the deeper meaning of impact.
The celebration was hailed as a resounding success — a golden jubilee that inspired many. But just days later, joy gave way to sorrow.
On Sunday, September 7, 2025, Uyi Osaretin lost his beloved mother after a brief illness. The devastating loss, he says, cut deep, leaving behind “a sharp pain in my heart.”
Yet, even in the midst of grief, his resolve to give back remains unbroken. On Monday, September 15, another round of cataract surgeries will take place in continuation of the Uyi Osaretin@50 Free Surgical Outreach which began in June.
For Uyi Osaretin, this is more than a birthday initiative; it is a way of life.
