Scoop: Encrypted message giving in depth details of sleaze in an agency in Edo State

Edo State Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Engr. Ethan Uzamere, has met with the officials of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development on the commencement of Airborne Survey of selected areas of nineteen states of the federation which includes Edo North Senatorial District, Edo State.

The meeting was sequel to complaint from some part of the state that some persons were being sighted in aircrafts doing some kind of survey work and to ascertain that those persons are actually from the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development’s Mineral Support for Economic Diversification ( MINDIVER) Project.

The Mineral Sector Support for Economic Diversification (MINDIVER), a World Bank assisted Project under the Ministry of Mines and Steel
Development has embarked on an Airborne Geophysical Survey Activity in Nineteen (19) States of the Federation (covering 112 Local Government Areas) to determine accurate mineral allocations using modern-day aeromagnetic mechanism.

The survey will be measuring minor variations in the earth’s magnetic fields and gamma radiations in the soil. It is a passive technique that does not involve sending out
any signals or sound waves into the ground and therefore remains a very safe aerial survey.

The survey which has already started is similar to the previous ones that took place between 2003-2007 and 2009-2011 which was conducted over the entire country but remained largely unnoticed by most Nigerians.

Due to this, Engr. Uzamere has called on local governments in the state that would be covered by the survey not to panic as a result of the loud noise of the aircraft due to the low flying altitude maintained by the aircraft or the pattern of movement of the aircraft and urged citizens of the state to be calm regarding any news circulating as the State Government is in constant touch with the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development towards the in flow of information between both agencies and will at all times prioritize the safety of it’s citizens.

Present at the meeting for the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development were Ishaku Kigbu and Olasehinde Oladusi.
