The Edo State Waste Management Board in collaboration with the Edo State Task Force, has launched a concerted effort to tackle the issue of street trading in the Benin metropolis.

As part of this initiative, a joint operation was conducted to enforce the ban on street trading, with the aim of improving the city’s aesthetics, reducing traffic congestion, and enhancing overall public health.

During the operation, the Managing Director of the Edo State Waste Management Board, Mr. Lucky Enehita Inegbenehi, emphasized the importance of residents refraining from street trading, citing the negative impact it has on the environment and the community.

The Commander of the Edo State Task Force, SP Micheal Anetor, echoed this sentiment, pledging to work closely with the Waste Management Board to ensure the initiative’s success.

This collaborative effort is expected to yield significant benefits for the city, including improved sanitation, reduced street litter, and enhanced economic opportunities for traders who relocate to designated markets.

The Edo State Government remains committed to creating a clean, safe, and prosperous environment for its citizens, and this joint initiative is a step in the right direction.
