Edo State Police Command arrest notorious interstate armed robbers

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command on April 20th, 2021, arrested one Ismaila Isah at Ekpoma for being in possession of a phone belonging to one Mr. Osobhamisiole Kingsley who was robbed of his Toyota Camry car, black in colour with Reg. No. Lagos AKD 214 GQ and other valuables on December 13th, 2020, at gun point in Ekpoma.

The suspect was immediately transferred to Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit of the command where the case was reported.

On the receipt of the suspect, the unit carried out technical investigations which led to the arrest of one Yayaha Musa in Idah, Kogi State on April 27th, 2021, in connection with the armed robbery case and the snatched Toyota Camry. The black colour car has now been repainted to red colour.

One  Abdulqadiri Yahaya, who forged documents for the stolen car and also destroyed the tracking facilities, has also been arrested. 

On April 29th, 2021, at the Command premises during interrogation of the principal suspect, Yahaya Musa, he sighted one of his gang members, Osatohanmwan Amasohuomwan with whom he carried out the robbery operations and was in custody of the Command crack team for another offence of suspected POS armed robbery in Uromi where arms and ammunition were recovered.

All the suspects arrested in connection with the case have confessed to the crime and other criminal operations within and outside Edo Central. Investigation is still ongoing as suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.

In a related development, on April 21st, 2021, at about 0900hrs, the Command received complaint from one Mrs. Mercy Imoisili, who stated that her biological son identified as Theophilus Elohor, was driving her Lexus 330 Jeep, black in colour Reg. No. RBC796HN when four unidentified armed men attacked him and eventually kidnapped him alongside with the Jeep to an unknown destination. 

After much efforts from the police operatives, the kidnappers released her son but left with the Lexus Jeep belonging to the complainant.  

During the course of investigation, intelligence revealed that the said vehicle was on its way to Abuja and was subsequently intercepted at a police checking point in Kwali area of Federal Capital Territory(FCT). 

The suspects who were stopped by the police immediately jumped out from the vehicle and ran into the bush. Effort is in top gear to arrest the fleeing armed robbers.            

Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Phillip Aliyu Ogbadu, has reiterated his commitment to rid the state  of criminal activities, adding that with good and timely information from the good people of Edo State, crime will reduce.
