Barrister Damian Lawani, the immediate past Commissioner for Youth in Edo State and also chairman of the governing board of the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) in the state, has promised that the state will come out tops at the forthcoming National Sports Festival(40th Edition) to be hosted by the state.
He stated that all is ready for the kick-off of the sports festival which is expected to come up on 2021 Valentine Day(February 14th, 2021) in Benin City.
“There has been series of postponement upon postponement of the sports fiesta.
“Every sports lover is aware of this and that it is not the fault of the Edo State Goverment. It is not because we are not prepared but because of the coronavirus.
“We pray that this time around it will come to pass. The chairman of the Local Organising Committee(LOC) has assured us that all the protocols of the coronavirus would be strictly observed while the festival is on.
“We, as a government, would ensure the security of lives and properties is well guaranteed. It is going to be very key.
“The festival is going to be the pride of Edo State and we are hosting to win.”
