Edo State Govt replies APC on PDP Presidential rally

Our attention has been drawn to a recent statement by the Chairman of the APC, Edo State Chapter, Col David Imuse Rtd. signed by the Assistant State Publicity Secretary, Victor Ofure Osheobi over a false claim of Edo State Civil Servant being forced to attend the PDP Presidential Campaign rally, scheduled for Saturday, 22nd October, 2022 in Benin City.

Since it has become the tradition of the APC to strive for relevance through frequent peddling of falsehood, we would have opted to ignore any of such mischievous antics, but consider our response at this time, necessary to correct any misleading and non existent invitation of Edo State Civil Servants to a PDP Presidential Campaign rally or a purported declaration of a work free day on a Saturday.

The PDP as the party in power in Edo State would have cherished the APC suggesting pathways through which we can jointly make Edo residents more gainful of governmental strides, but expresses surprise at how the APC has remained stuck to ways which progressive societies are jettisoning in order to achieve the right coordinates of aspiring societies.

Every attempt by the APC to malign the current administration in Edo State ends up exposing how unserious it has become as a political party which wants to be trusted with the serious business of governance. Otherwise, how can a party worthy of the people’s trust go on air to make fallacious claim about a non-existent invitation or declaration?

However, we understand the APC’s unremitting fears which spring from the overwhelming acceptance that the PDP has succeeded in planting in the hearts of Edo people.

No doubt Governor Godwin Obaseki has become so loved with the far-reaching effects of ‘any where you go; we follow’ The Edo APC Knows that even without any invitation, the state’s civil servants would love to show solidarity with the governor, beyond their rights of political association and freedom to express a political choice.

Once again, the public is advised to be wary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state who is also advised to stop making spurious, irresponsible and unsubstantiated claims.

And for your information, we have over 500,000 verifiable members of Edo PDP and for this rally, we are restricting the number to avoid stampede.

Chris Osa Nehikhare
